We are currently presenting Ken Inaguma Exhibition – Resonance of Ma, the artist’s first solo exhibition.
Ken Inaguma continues to explore artistic expression through oil painting as his primary medium, while working with a variety of supports and materials to give form to “breathing paintings” or “living paintings.
This exhibition features approximately 40 works, including both new and earlier pieces, so that visitors may see the accumulation of time and the evolution of thought that have led to his current body of work. In this exhibition, visitors can encounter the ma found within the works, as well as the ma that emerges between the works and the viewer. We invite you to experience the “Resonance of Ma” as a space that generates relationships beyond mere empty space.

稲熊 兼 展 -間の余香- を開催いたします。 「ギャラリーいまじん」での初めての個展となります。
現在の作品に至るまでの 時間の積層や思考の変遷もご覧いただきたく新作を中心に構成しつつ、過去 作もあわせて展示いたします。
「呼吸している絵画」すなわち「生きている絵画」をかたちにするため油彩を主軸にしながらも支持体や素材を横断するかたちで制作に取り組み、異なる質感 や素材の特性を探求することで、表現を模索しています。温かくて冷たい、硬く て柔らかい、重くて軽い など相反する要素が同時に存在する状態、それは矛盾ではなく、拮抗しながらひとつの呼吸を生み出します。 作品の中に存在する「間(ま)」、作品と私のあいだにある「間」、作品とみなさまとのあいだに生まれる「間」が単なる余白ではなく、関係を生み出す場として作 用してくれると嬉しく思います。

◆Greeting
Ken Inaguma — Lingering Resonance of Ma
Ma is a Japanese concept referring to the relational space between people, objects, and experiences.
This is my first solo exhibition at Gallery Imagine. Wishing to share not only my current works but also the accumulation of time and the evolution of thought that have led to them, I have centered this exhibition on new works while also presenting selected earlier pieces.
In pursuit of giving form to what I call “breathing paintings,” or “paintings that are alive,” I work primarily with oil paint while exploring a variety of supports and materials. By investigating different textures and the unique qualities of these materials, I continue to search for new possibilities for expression. States in which opposing qualities coexist—warm and cold, hard and soft, heavy and light—are not contradictions. Rather, they remain in tension with one another and, through that tension, generate a single breath.
I would be delighted if the ma that exists within the works, between the works and myself, and between the works and viewers could be felt throughout the exhibition.I hope that this ma will function not merely as empty space, but as a place where relationships are created.

Biography
Born in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, in 1978. Currently lives in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture.
2002 Graduated from the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Nagoya University of Arts.
Currently a member of VERON KAI.
